​Our founding members, Scott M. Soloway and Robert G. Schwartz, have each worked with technology companies for over 25 years. We began our legal careers in leading Boston corporate law firms, and each of us spent a large part of his career in general counsel and other in-house roles with publicly and privately held software companies.  Since 2003, Scott has built a thriving legal practice specializing in software licensing, intellectual property protection and general corporate and business transactions.  Bob left his last general counsel position in 2009 to build a private practice serving technology companies, their customers and emerging companies.

Our attorneys are practical, accessible and efficient problem solvers, focused on helping clients achieve their business objectives in a way that, we believe, only lawyers with years of executive, entrepreneurial and in-house legal experience can be.  Soloway Schwartz LLC was formed in August 2013 in an effort to combine our efforts serving similar clients, so that we can offer them a deeper level of expertise and attention than any of us could provide alone.

We offer flexible fee structures to meet the varying needs of our clients, including traditional hourly billing, fixed prices for discrete projects, and dedicated hours for a regular weekly or monthly retainer.  We often serve as our clients’ external general counsel or extensions of their in-house legal departments, interacting directly with sales and business development representatives, finance staff, technology and products developers and other outside counsel.  Located in the greater Boston area, we use extremely low overhead costs, efficient information technology and a flat organizational structure to give our clients the sophisticated, hands-on attention of our veteran members at rates comparable to those of the most junior associates at other law firms.
